Windows 8: Getestet als müsste ich damit arbeiten.
Eigentlich sollte es wir heißen. Denn diesmal waren wir zu zweit beim Testen, um mit vier Augen beurteilen zu können ob wir es für gut befinden würden wenn Windows 8 in unseren Arbeitsalltag einzieht.
Wir sind in diesem Fall @MestraAshara und ich. Wir beide arbeiten seit Jahren als Softwareentwickler im Microsoftumfeld und somit gehört Windows nicht nur zu unserem Alltag, es ist auch unsere primäre Entwicklungsplattform und unser Werkzeug, vorallem in Verbindung mit Office und Visual Studio.
Privat sind wir eher in der Linuxwelt zu Hause. Das hat viele Gründe, aber darum geht es hier nicht.
Gut und Neu
Ich sollte mit den positiven Dingen beginnen, jedoch befürchte ich dieser Block wird eher kurz, wenn ich hier nämlich alles auslasse was Windows 7 eben auch schon gut gemacht hat.
Was ist also positiv und neu?
Es ist schnell. Keine Frage, die Systemperformance ist wirklich gut. Es scheint recht stabil zu sein, denn weder die Customer Preview noch die Release Preview ist uns beim sehr ausgiebigem Testen je abgestürzt oder hängengeblieben. Auch die Hardwareunterstützung macht einen guten Eindruck. Der schon etwas in die Jahre gekommene Laptop auf dem wir testen wird vollständig unterstützt.
Ich drehe mich nach rechts zu @MestraAshara und frage: “Was war noch gut?” …. ”Der Taskmanager ist neu!”
Das Traurige ist, dass es hier auch schon wieder endet.
Ihr fragt jetzt sicher: Was ist mit den vielen tollen Apps?! Die Skydrive und XBOX Integration?! und, und, und,…
Schlicht und ergreifend: Alles nette Ideen, aber furchtbar umgesetzt für ein Device mit Maus und Tastatur!
Nicht das was uns versprochen wurde, undurchgängig, unintuitiv, fehl am Platz
IE 10 und HTML 5
Einer der Punkte mit denen Microsoft ja schon im Vorfeld angegeben hat ist, dass der IE 10 nun endlich eine gute HTML5 Unterstützung bieten soll. Ich würde dies sehr begrüßen, da es gerade in der Webentwicklung viel erleichtern würde wenn der IE endlich etwas mehr von dem können würde was die anderen seit Jahren können.
Pustekuchen!
Wir habe viel probiert und getestet und leider kamen wir dabei zu dem Ergebnis, welches uns später auch html5test.com bestätigen sollte. Der IE liegt weiterhin was die Unterstützung vom HTML5 angeht weit weg von den Anderen.
319 Punkte. Damit schafft er es nicht einmal in die Top 5, die übrigens von Googles Chrome mit 437 von 500 möglichen Punkten angeführt wird.
Der Launcher
Startet man Windows 8 so landet man im Launcher. Diese optisch durchaus netten riesen Kacheln, welche als Applikationsstarter dienen. Leider gibt es hier keine Kategorien… …oder doch?
Nur wenn man sie findet und auch dann nicht richtig!
Der Rechtsklick hat nämlich in Windows 8 die lustige Eigenschaft irgendwas einzublenden. Ja ich meine irgendwas. Im Launcher blendet er zum Beispiel einen Streifen ein in dem genau ein Button (EINER!!!!) ist. Warum ist dieser Knopf nich immer da? Platz wäre mehr als genug! Das zieht sich durch das ganze System. Alles könnte auf einen Blick ersichtlich sein. Ist es aber nicht!
Dieser Button mit der Beschriftung “all apps” bringt uns zu einer weiteren horizontal scrollbaren Übersicht, die jetzt wirklich alle Applikationen anzeigt, sortiert nach Kategorien. Man kann hier aber nicht Filtern oder umsortieren.
Öffnet jetzt mal euer Startmenü und sagt mir wie viele Programme in wie vielen Ordnern ihr hier habt. Stellt euch das mal als eine Liste mit zu großer Schrift und großen Icons vor die ihr nicht anpassen oder umsortieren könnt. Viel Spaß beim scrollen.
Windows 7
Ich mag Windows 7. Es ist schnell, verlässlich und gut für die Bedienung mit Maus und Tastatur geeignet. Gut das Microsoft Windows 7 eigentlich vollständig in Windows 8 integriert hat.
Nein, falsch.
Windows 8 ist Windows 7! Nur mit einem viel weniger intuitiven UI. Denn wenn man irgendetwas verwendet, dass nicht eine “Modern UI App” ist landet man am Windows 7 Desktop nur eben ohne Startmenü. Das geschieht plötzlich, dauernd und teilweise sogar bei einfachen Messageboxen! Ich bin mir sicher der Durchschnittsuser findet nicht ohne weiteres zurück in den Launcher. Liebe Nerds und Geeks da draußen: Wir kommen damit klar, aber werden eure Eltern das auch?
Habt ihr Windows 8 schon mal länger als 30 Minuten verwendet? Versucht damit zu arbeiten? Ständig sucht man und mit viel Glück findet man und zwar dort wo es nicht hingehört. Meistens aber ärgert man sich.
Windows 8 kann nicht weniger als Windows 7 aber auch nichts super innovatives mehr! Es ist alles viel anstrengender.
Nein, ich will jetzt nicht hören wir werden uns daran gewöhnen!
Nein! Wieso sollte ich!
Stellt euch vor ihr seid ein Tischler und jemand gibt euch eine Säge die genau so gut sägen kann wie die, die ihr jetzt habt und kennt, nur eben, dass ihr euch daran gewöhnen müsst um das gleich gute Ergebnis zu bekommen wie bisher und das mit etwas mehr Anstrengung. Was würdet ihr sagen?
Ich als Tischler würde mir eine Säge wünschen die so intuitiv ist, dass ich von jetzt an besser und schneller arbeite als bisher. Das ist der Sinn von allem Neuem!

Und ich dachte, ich wäre allein mit dieser Meinung, als ich vor geraumer Zeit die Preview (in einer VM) installierte und sie nach zwei Stunden wieder ins Daten-Nirvana schob.
Ich weiß nicht mehr, welches Programm es war (glaube ein papierflieger basteln oder fliegen lassen) … aber ich kam partout aus dieser Anwendung nicht mehr raus.
Das war dann der Punkt, wo ich die VM klanglos schloss und mich wieder auf meinen WindowMaker stürzte.
